Coloring is Calming!
The act of coloring is a great way to reduce stress. And here is a FREE May Coloring Page for you to print out and give it a try. While your hand is busy moving the crayons across the paper, your mind has a chance to relax. Instead of focusing on whatever random things dance through your mind, your mind will focus on beautiful colors and the act of coloring. How fun is that?
If you can, use crayons instead of markers or colored pencils to color. Research has found the smell of crayons to increase creativity. Perhaps that has something to do with igniting the memory of coloring as a kid and the creative fun that went along with it at a young age. I first heard this in my grad program and can’t remember where the research came from, but you can google it if you’re interested.
As you can see, my coloring is not perfect. It doesn’t matter. The focus is on the act of coloring and enjoying the colors! The final product doesn’t matter so much. Although, if you print this out on thicker paper, you can jot a note on the back and give it to a friend. Or maybe wrap a small gift with it. Or put it on your fridge with magnets, like when you were a kid. Or if you really like it, frame it!
